Site Director Duties PDF Print E-mail
All clubs schedule a Site Director to be on the grounds during all soccer games. The site director is to be available to promote a good environment. Most importantly, he or she is to be a support to all of the referees. All of our referees are certified by attending a 16 hour course provided by the U.S. Soccer Federation. All referees must attend an annual re-certification course. A referee must be at least 12 years old. A referee must be 2 years older than the players who are playing.

Unfortunately, there have been incidents when either parents and/or coaches have verbally abused some of our younger referees. The board wants to prevent this from every happening again. The rules from the U.S.S.F. mandate that after a verbal warning, should the adult continue to badger the referee, the referee and the site director are to direct the disruptive adult to leave the soccer complex. Please read the following directives for the site director:

  • AM Time- Please arrive early- 7:45am to make sure the gate is open. Help the referees get the flags set up on the fields.
  • PM Time- Please help collect the field flags and lock the gate.
  • Help with the opening of the concessions by setting up the open flag and stand outside.
  • Help direct visiting teams and fans to the correct fields. Let their coaches know where they can warm up their teams.
  • Walk all fields and review games with referees at the half and with the coaches before or after games. Encourage good sportsmanship.
  • Ask fans from both teams how the game is going and if they are having fun. Encourage good sportsmanship.
  • Be a good role model, pick up garbage, water bottles left behind.
  • Bring any clothing or balls left behind to the concession building.
  • If someone becomes very upset and disruptive, try to calm down the individual. If it is not possible, then ask them to leave and perhaps call the police.
  • The Sailor Soccer Complex is part of the Ross Park (Mona Shores) School Grounds. PLEASE, No Smoking.

Welcome to Sailor Soccer!

The Sailor Soccer Club proudly provides opportunities for area youth to play soccer regardless of their skill level or playing experience. On the recreational level, we field teams from U6 through U19 in boys, girls and co-ed divisions as part of the Great Lakes Co-Ed Soccer League (GLCSL). The Sailor Select travel teams are comprised of more experienced players and engage on a competitive level as part of the Grand Valley Soccer Association (GVSA). Players interested in playing on Select teams must participate in a tryout or evaluation, after which the teams are selected by the Sailor Soccer Club selection staff. Please take a look around the site...and by all means, contact us if you have any questions.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of this club to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of area youth through the sport of soccer at the recreational and select levels. This club is established as a non-profit and educational organization. This club shall provide a means to communicate information to players, coaches, referees, and any other interested parties.
