Juggle Across America Print E-mail

During the summer of 1993, Jeffrey S. Cousineau and Rand Cayer developed this game to change the focus of juggling from just keeping the ball in the air to predetermining where the ball will go and what part of the body will get it there.

Using a map of the US as the game board, they assigned each state a specific juggling skill. Once the skill was achieved, that state could be colored in. The object of the game was to complete all 50 juggling skills.

Probably the simplest game a person can do for practice is jugging - receiving and playing the ball with the various body parts. However, just juggling can get boring. The challenge of keeping the ball in the air indefinately is impossible. The beauty of this game lies in that it has a specific object and an attainable goal.

Try it as a player for practice or as a coach for "homework". You will find the first touch is improved and that is the secret to successful soccer.
