Lakeshore Premier Tryouts

With great excitement, The Sailors Soccer Club, in partnership with the Muskegon Lakers, Fruitport Fire and Tri-Cities Strikers, announces the formation of the Lakeshore Premier Soccer Club (LPSC).

Earlier this year, representatives of these clubs began discussing what it might take to offer Premier-level soccer in our area. Each club has players for whom the Michigan State Premier Soccer League (MSPSL) represents the "next step" in their soccer development journey.

Sailors and our partner clubs, in seeking to satisfy this demand, are forming collaboration in the LPSC, allowing us to "pool" these players into a local club dedicated to fielding competitive teams in the MSPSL at a reasonable cost to families.

LPSC will be an independent club, with an Executive Committee comprised of two representatives from each of the partner clubs. One of those representatives will be a sitting board member to insure the club develops as intended. Responsibility for the LPSC rests with this Executive Committee.

The Grand Valley Soccer Association (GVSA) is very excited about this effort, and earlier this spring, enthusiastically voted to sponsor LPSC. Such a sponsorship means LPSC can begin competing in both GVSA and the MSPSL in the fall of 2010.

Another exciting development is that Aaron Dean, the Grand Haven High School Boys Varsity Soccer Coach, will assume the role of Director of Coaching for LPSC. Aaron, in coordination with DOCs of our partner clubs, has been working to recruit coaches for LPSC. We'll be announcing those coaches shortly.

The following is a tentative list of teams LPSC is looking to form:

  • U12 Boys & Girls (to compete in the GVSA at U13)
  • U13 Boys & Girls (to compete in the MSPSL)
  • U15 Boys (to compete in the MSPSL, Spring 2011)
  • U15 Girls (to compete in the MSPSL, Fall 2010)
  • U17 Boys (to compete in the MSPSL, Spring 2011)

The goal of having U12 teams competing in the GVSA is to have players from the different clubs coming together to play for a full season at 11v11 in preparation for going to the MSPSL when they are U13.

It's important to know that Premier-level soccer is not for everyone, which is why we encourage families to learn more and ask questions before making a decision on participating in the tryouts.

We know they'll be questions and many considerations from younger players on whether or not a Premier-level soccer experience is appropriate. To support the LPSC, a website has been created that will be updated regularly to help inform families. To learn more and register for tryouts on-line, visit Lakeshore Premier Soccer Club.

Welcome to Sailor Soccer!

The Sailor Soccer Club proudly provides opportunities for area youth to play soccer regardless of their skill level or playing experience. On the recreational level, we field teams from U6 through U19 in boys, girls and co-ed divisions as part of the Great Lakes Co-Ed Soccer League (GLCSL). The Sailor Select travel teams are comprised of more experienced players and engage on a competitive level as part of the Grand Valley Soccer Association (GVSA). Players interested in playing on Select teams must participate in a tryout or evaluation, after which the teams are selected by the Sailor Soccer Club selection staff. Please take a look around the site...and by all means, contact us if you have any questions.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of this club to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of area youth through the sport of soccer at the recreational and select levels. This club is established as a non-profit and educational organization. This club shall provide a means to communicate information to players, coaches, referees, and any other interested parties.
